Using Flipgrid as a Video Discussion Tool

Drama Lecturer Cady Garey uses Flipgrid to encourage engagement among her students. Initially, students said that they were uncomfortable recording themselves, but this quickly changed as they saw the value of being able to watch videos of their peers sharing their ideas. She has used the tool in different ways, such as asking her students to respond to discussion prompts or react to each other's videos. Garey feels that Flipgrid helps to create more personal and authentic conversations and give students more practice sharing their ideas in an embodied, spoken form, as opposed to traditional writing assignments.
