McIntire Associate Professor Steven L. Johnson has found a unique way to better understand how his students are learning and engaging with the course material. Johnson uses Google Forms to gather information from students before, during, and after class meetings. These forms include students submitting a pre-class knowledge check or homework assignment; answering more open-ended questions; working in small groups on prompts; and submitting rapid reflections after class. For Johnson, getting frequent student feedback is a more effective way for him to gauge how all his students are doing and gives him the opportunity to make mid-course corrections if needed.
