Biography
Jesse Schneiderman is a former teacher, debate coach, student advisor, and non-profit director and is now the Faculty Director of the Zirkin Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning and an Assistant Professor of Education at Stevenson! After teaching in the South Bronx for two years, Jesse moved to Baltimore and spent five years teaching social studies at Frederick Douglass High School in West Baltimore. During that time he became interested in student sense of belonging and service learning and enrolled in Johns Hopkins doctor of education program.
After teaching and acting as the Dean of Student Activities at Douglass; Jesse spent almost three years running the Adult Learning Center, helping to provide free GED and English language classes to adult Baltimoreans.
Jesse's research interest are in student sense of belonging, trauma-informed instruction, and faculty development to ensure those elements in higher education classrooms. Jesse lives in the Upper Fells Point neighborhood of Baltimore with his wife Megan, his son Cameron, and his pitbull Waffles.
