Biography
Dr. Bethany N. Morrison is an assistant director at the Center for Research on Learning and Teaching (CRLT) at the University of Michigan. At CRLT, she consults with instructors on wide range of pedagogy topics, but is particularly energized by student engagement and motivation, authentic learning experiences, structuring interactions for equity, and civic learning across the curriculum.
Prior to joining CRLT, she worked at the Center for the Advancement of Teaching at Wake Forest University, supporting faculty in the unprecedented shift to pandemic teaching. Bethany has a Ph.D. in Political Science from Emory University and teaches courses on American politics, policy-making, and the judiciary.
She co-leads the Promoting Democracy Teaching Series, a collaboration between CRLT and U-M’s Ginsberg Center for Community and Civic Engagement that develops programs and resources designed to help instructors across academic disciplines harness the momentum of an election season to promote civic learning and democratic engagement while improving their teaching practice.
