SoTL Collaboratory
The SoTL Collaboratory—a community of practice for Virginia institutions engaged in SoTL faculty development—created a resource hub for instructors and graduate teaching assistants, faculty developers, and administrators.
A group of educational developers from a few institutions in Virginia (GMU, UVA, VA Tech, JMU, VCU, and UMW) have formed what we are calling the SoTL Collaboratory. The SoTL Collaboratory is currently a regional community of practice (CoP) for faculty developers that engage and support faculty doing SoTL work and projects at their institutions. The project is funded in part by a grant from 4-VA.
The main SoTL Collaboratory project goal is to build a regional community of practice for faculty developers at Virginia institutions who offer programming to support SoTLers at their institution. Our members meet regularly in which we exchange ideas and resources, contribute to a regional SoTL support model repository, give feedback on the strategic plans for SoTL at our institutions (that we are each developing), and explore ways that we can “share” the workload in the future through offering cross-institutional SoTL programming for our faculty.
