Biography

Lynn Mandeltort joined the Center for Teaching Excellence in September 2019. As our Assistant Director of Engineering Education Initiatives, Lynn develops and implements educational development programs to support teaching and learning in the School of Engineering and Applied Science. 

Prior to her position at the CTE, Lynn was a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Bates College in Lewiston, Maine, where she taught courses such as Atomic and Molecular Structure/Reactivity, Quantum Chemistry, Statistical Thermodynamics, and The Making of the Atomic Bomb. In addition to her duties there as a full-time faculty member, Lynn planned, designed, and facilitated educational development work. She has led workshops on reflective writing in the sciences, techniques for deploying active learning in large enrollment courses, and motivation in collaborative learning.

Lynn graduated from The College of Charleston in South Carolina with a B.S. in Chemistry. She received her Ph.D. here at UVA in Physical Chemistry.
